Myakka River State Park Factoids:
- 37,000 acres
- 39 miles of paved and unpaved trails
- 14 miles of the Myakka River flows through the park
- 2 lakes are also in the park - Upper Myakka Lake and the historic Weir
- One of 8 parks developed by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) in the 1930s
- Initial size - 17,000 acres of the Palmer estate purchased by the Florida government

Rules and Regulations:
- Hours: 8 AM until sundown (via south entrance); 8 AM - 5 PM weekends and holidays (via north entrance)
- Do not approach, tease, frighten or feed the alligators
- No drones, fireworks, hunting or swimming allowed
- Do not feed or try to touch any animals
- Pets must be kept on a hand-held, maximum 6-foot leash
- Pets are not allowed on tours, in concession areas, primitive camps, the wilderness preserve, cabins or other buildings

Insider Tips:
- Go early if you are just staying for the day. There is so much to do and see that you should check their website and familiarize yourself with the layout and choices ahead of time.
- If alligators are your major focus, obtain a permit for the Deep Hole at the south entrance Ranger Station (no charge). Limited to only 30 guests per day. Five mile loop. No pets allowed. Hiking only. No restrooms or drinking water. Carry in and out. Take plenty of water, sunscreen, insect repellent and hat. Parking is 1/4 mile west from Ranger Station in the Wilderness Preserve Area across the street.
